Mission:
M-19 Temporal Aftermath
Location: Phoenix & DS3
Timeline: Current
[USS Phoenix ]
Doctor Rhineholt was greeted by Ensign Emerson as soon as he entered sick bay "Doctor I searched the archives of DS3 going back one hundred fifty years" then Sam paused "You're going to want to see what I've found" she commented with quite a serious demeanor.
Seeing how his Yeoman was acting Jason figured it must be pretty bad "Let's take this to my office and you can show me what you've uncovered.
Entering his office Sam began her explanation while showing Jason her padd "See all these highlighted items, they are a historic account of certain findings and the medical procedures derived from said findings. Now I graduated from the Academy in nursing in the top ten percent of my class......I've never heard of those items....at least that I can remember" she concluded.
Taking the padd from the Ensign, Rhineholt looked the list over carefully then looked up at Sam "Crap!! Neither have I and I can only assume I should know this information and these procedures." Taking a seat he began thinking "If we don't know or remember this stuff then it's safe to assume the rest of our staff doesn't either" then he paused a few moments "We need some outside help on this" tapping his comm "Doctor T'Vel please come to the CMO's office" then looking at Emerson "You and I are going to pay a visit to sick bay here on DS3 so bring your padd."
Moments later T'Vel walked in "Reporting as ordered Doctor Rhineholt."
"Thank you Doctor. Ensign Emerson and I are going to the sick bay here on the Base; the Ensign has uncovered some interesting data as a result of our last mission. After we talk to the CMO on DS3, then I'll fill everybody in on what we've found. In the meantime sick bay is yours" Jason concluded.
"I will do my best overseeing sick bay in your absence. If that is all Doctor may I be dismissed" T'Vel replied.
"Yes you're free to go" Rhineholt stated as T'Vel turned and left the office. Looking at Sam "You ready for this" then she gave a nod and the two Officers were off.
[ DS3 ]
Walking into the primary sick bay, with Samantha following, Jason walked over to a doctor "Excuse me, I'm Doctor Rhineholt here to see the CMO" he stated looking around at all the great tech present.
"Yes Doctor Rhineholt the Chief's available. If you'd be so kind as to follow me" the Doctor replied then led the way to the CMO's office " Chief Doctor Rhineholt here to see you Sir."
An older gentleman looked up from his work with a smile then stood and walked over to Jason with hand extended "Doctor Rhineholt so nice to meet you, please come and make yourself comfortable. I'm Doctor Edmund Froid by the way."
Shaking hands Jason turned "Nice to meet you Doctor Froid; this is my Medical Yeoman Ensign Samantha Emerson. She has discovered a lot of information to share due to our last mission" he replied giving the Doctor a strange look.
"Very nice to meet you as well Ensign" Edmund commented with a smile "And before you ask I'm no relation to Sigmund; at least none that I'm aware of. So I hear your ship has an experience with a temporal event."
All three officers sat as Jason began explaining the events of the past few weeks in detail "So you see Doctor I could use some help with this situation; it's affected the entire crew from the Captain on down to Crewman."
"Interesting Doctor" then he paused "Let me have you speak to the man who is a bit of a genius when it comes to the brain". Tapping his Comm "Doctor Russ please come to the CMO's office" came the order.
Moments later a somewhat younger man entered "You called Chief?"
"Yes. Allow me to introduce our guests." as Jason stood and Sam as well "Doctor Rhineholt, Ensign Emerson this is Doctor Alvin Russ our resident genius for matters concerning the brain and everything that goes along with it" Edmond stated.
Russ gave a nod "How y'all do'in folks. I hear you've had a brush with a temporal event" as they shook hands.
Jason gave a stern look "A brush is an understatement" he replied then went into detail what has happened to the crew as well as his concerns for the medical department "So can you help us regain our correct memories?"
Doctor Russ grinned "Almost as easy shoot'in a bullfrog in a holl'ar Doctor. Let me grab my padd and I'll go over the process with you; I'll be right back" he stated then turned and left the office.
Rhineholt just looked at Doctor Froid not believing that Doctor's demeanor "No offense but where did you find him."
Edmond gave a light chuckle "Despite being a little rough around the edges I can assure you Doctor Rhineholt he is one of the best when it comes to the brain and it's complexities" he declared with certainty.
Letting out a sigh "Begging your pardon, I meant no disrespect. I'll take your word for it and trust he's as good as you say he is" Rhineholt replied.
Shortly Russ returned with padd in hand as Edmond stood "Please Doctor Russ, take a seat and I'll stand. I'm looking forward to hearing your process" he stated with a smile.
Russ started his explanation "First of all, all of your memories and knowledge is still in your brain in tact. Whoever did this to you knew how to selectively shut off certain items to change the narrative to their liking. All we need to do is unlock your brain and turn all of them back on" he concluded like it was a simple thing to execute.
Jason, as well as Sam, were listening to every word when he inquired "So what are the side effects if any and how dangerous is this proceeder. Also is there an alternative to this procedure" he inquired wanting to cover all the scenarios.
"Doctor the only alternative would be to give up your commission and go back to the Academy and start all over again" Alvin informed him "As with any delicate procedure there may, of course, be complications."
"What sort of complications are we talking" Jason inquired wanting to know all the risks involved.
"Since I'll be using psychotropic drugs to unlock your brain, complications range from go mad to being brain locked and pretty much everything in between" Russ explained "Although these complications are not the norm."
Jason thought thinking a few moments "Let me think it over and see which course of action I'd want to take" he replied.
"Yes, of course. I usually want a patient to take between twenty four and forty eight hours to be sure which way they want to go before I start any procedure" Russ replied.
Standing Jason informed Russ "Doctor let get back too you tomorrow after I've some time to sleep on it."
"Alright and I'll expect to hear from you tomorrow then" Alvin answered "But the sooner the better for your patients sake."
"That's one of my primary concerns. I would hate to loose a patient because I couldn't or didn't remember a specific bit of medical history or procedure" as Jason extended his hand towards Russ "Thank you for the information and your honesty."
"You're welcome Doctor Rhineholt, I don't believe in sugarcoating things when it comes to the reality of a medical situation."
Rhineholt nodded then turned and left sick bay "Looks like you have a lot to think about Jason" Sam commented "Hopefully you'll make the right decision" as they returned to the ship.
