It was getting late in the day in sick bay as Doctor Rhineholt was finishing up with a patient "Lieutenant I would highly suggest taking the next two days off and rest that shoulder. If it dislocates too many more times you'll have to have surgery and that will lay you up for awhile" he explained with some concern in his voice.
The Lieutenant sighed "I didn't realize my shoulder was that bad" he replied then paused for a couple of moments "Alright I'll do as you suggest Doctor. The last thing I want is to have surgery and maybe loose some of my mobility."
Jason replied with a serious tone "That is a distinct possibility if surgery is needed and I'm glad you're listening to reason. Looks like you're all set so you can go, but if anything further develops please stop by and see me" he commented.
The Lieutenant sat up and got off the bio-bed "Thanks Doc for all your help and I will do as you have suggested" then turned and left sick bay for his quarters.
Seeing Rhineholt's patient leave sick bay, Ensign Emerson walked over with a smile "You about ready to call it a day Doctor" Samantha inquired.
Seeing Sam standing there Jason returned the smile "Yes, I think I've had enough for one day" he replied.
"Good. Maybe you'd let me take you to dinner; it's been awhile since we've had some free time together" Sam stated with a grin.
"That's very thoughtful of you; yes I'd like that and you're right it's been while" Jason replied with a grin of his own.
The two friends talked as they made their way to the Lounge on deck 5. Walking in Sam noticed as she turned towards Jason " It doesn't look all that busy for once" she commented "let's get our food before that changes." The Officers grabbed their meals and beverages and made their way to a table with two chairs then sat.
As they sat enjoying their meals Sam looked up at Jason with a smile "You seem awfully quiet, everything ok" she inquired.
Hearing her voice snapped Jason back to reality "Oh sorry. To answer your question; I'm not sure" then he paused looking for the right words so he wouldn't sound like a raving idiot "Since finding out our memories have been altered, at least I now know why I've been feeling off for so long" he replied.
"Feeling off, as you so eloquently put it, I think is your subconscious letting you know something was wrong" Sam inquired "Of course I'm not a Doctor" as she grinned at her statement.
Jason had to chuckle at her statement "No but I think you very well may be right in your diagnosis. I only wish I knew how this happened" he commented.
Sam sat for several minutes thinking before commenting "Now that you mention it, I did find myself asleep at my desk, a few months ago, which has never happened before but I just chalked it up to fatigue at the time."
"Really? The same thing happened to me in my quarters. I found myself waking up sitting on my couch with the latest medical journal in my lap. I have never fallen asleep reading a new journal. But like you at the time I just chalked it up to fatigue as well. Then after that happened, that was when I started thinking something was off and that hasn't changed."
"Hmm; maybe, when we arrive at DS3, I should access their medical mainframe and see just what the extent of the damage has been to you and the whole medical department" Sam suggested wanting to know for herself as well.
"You can do that" a very surprised Jason inquired.
"Never underestimate the power of a Yeoman, Doctor Rhineholt" Sam replied with a smirk as they finished their meals.
The two Officers sat and talked for the next hour when Sam remarked "I suppose we should be going and let someone else have our table" then she looked into Jason's eyes "Walk me back to my quarters?"
Without hesitation "Absolutely. I wouldn't want anything to happen to my favorite Yeoman, now would I" Jason replied with a grin. The Officers left the Lounge and talked on their way back to Samantha's quarters.
Arriving back at Sam's place she turned "So would you like to come in for a drink and we can talk some more" she inquired hoping for the right answer.
"Yes, I'd like that" he replied with a smile as then two entered. "Would you like a glass of wine and please make yourself comfortable" Sam commented.
"Sure, a glass of wine would be nice" Jason replied as he sat on the couch.
Moments later Sam returned with two glasses of wine and handed one to Jason before sitting rather close to him "Here you go."
After taking a long sip of his wine, Jason set his glass on the table before turning looking into Sam's beautiful blue eyes "You know you really are a remarkable woman, always thinking outside the box when a problem arises" he stated referring to her willingness to help solve their problem.
With a smile "Doctor Rhineholt you finally noticed" she replied before moving even closer "So how remarkable am I" in a low sultry voice.
With a smile Jason leaned in "This remarkable" as he gave Sam a passionate kiss for a few minutes.
After the kiss "I was wondering if you were ever going to get around to this" she commented with a grin then returned his kiss in kind.
Jason grinned back looking into those gorgeous blue eyes once again as he spoke in a soft voice "I didn't want to seem pushy or take liberties that I shouldn't and mess things up with you" he replied before moving closer into her personal space giving her another kiss.
By this time Sam's heart was racing given Jason's comments and actions but she still kept a playful air about her "Smart thinking.....girls like me don't come along every day you know" she stated then smiled "Doctor Jason Rhineholt you are a gentleman; I didn't know any still existed."
Hearing that Jason gave a light chuckle "I guess my parents raised me right" he replied "I probably should be going so you can get some sleep" then he paused "Let me know what you find out so we can figure out what the next course of action should be."
"Absolutely" Sam replied "So if the damage has been significant then what."
Thinking for a moment "Depending on what you dig up; we should take it to the Captain and explain what w'eve found to him then see how he wants to proceed" he replied then turned and left for his quarters.
Sam sat on the couch very pleased with the time she had just spent with Jason. Tomorrow she'd start digging through the medical mainframe of DS3 and see what she could find.
