Mission: M-18 The Past is Future
Location: USS Phoenix

::: Earlier :::

[Transporter Rooms]

Lt. Spicer and here group of Marines filed into the transporter room while the rest of the Marines moved to the their assigned areas to wait for the order to beam in. "Remember we are take new prisoners to their assigned areas. Speak and act Klingon at all times. The areas we are beaming into will be areas destroyed in the explosion. If we encounter resistance you are to vaporize any opposition there is no record to any issue prior to the explosion so we can't leave any sign of trouble. Take your positions."

Stepping to the comm panel. "Lt. Spicer to the bridge. Captain, we're in position."

::: Currently :::

[Bridge]

Having familiarized themselves as best they could with the modifications to the ship and the instructions on its use there was little else to do but to get going.

Opening a shipwide channel Rico addressed the crew. "This is the Captain, we are about to engage in what can only be described as one of the riskiest mission any crew can called upon. According to the our friends from the future billions of lives and the Federation itself are in the balance. From here on out we will be running under cloak and at Red Alert.
Focus on your duties and we will make sure events unfold as they are supposed to. Montoya out."

Looking to Aiden with a nod.

"Red alert." He turned to Heather and nodded. "Let's hide her."

Heather suppressed a smile at the XO's unique way of giving instructions. "She is hidden... Cloak activated and holding steady."

Nico stiffened as the order to hide the ship was given to the Operations officer rather than himself. As he watched his panel, he wondered if this wasn't a subtle reminder that the only reason he was in this position was that the actual chief had died. And if that were the case, that put him in an awkward position. Offer to give way? Fight to prove himself? Transfer? He pushed the thought aside and focused on duty. Whether he had the captain's trust or not, he would still do his job.

Rico stood before his command chair as the alert klaxon sounded and the lighting shifted. "Engineering. Activate the deflector." Double checking the padd with the temporal information. "Helm set temporal-spatial coordinates. Time frame, stardate 9521.37228. Location, Beta Quadrant, spatial coordinates eighty seven theta by two seventy one. Target, the Klingon moon Praxis."

"Kill the klaxon," Aiden said to the computer. "Turn it down," he altered his statement. He breathed a bit easier when the decibels decreased.

Urushi tapped away at the science console. She was watching the temporal co-ordinates closely. She wasn't too sure on the modifications to the ship's systems, it felt wrong to be using such advanced technology for this reason. "Captain. We won't be able to use the transporters while we are cloaked. So we'll have to drop cloak to beam them down."

"However..." Urishu said. "If we can minimize the time it takes to beam down the team I believe I can do it quick enough to be undetected by the Klingon sensors."

"Granted. Be sure to find the precise point we are able to beam out while lowering the cloak. If the Klingon Defense Forces detect a Federation signature this will end before it really begins. That said, deactivate our transponder for the time being."

"Old Klingon ships used sensor pulses," Urushi explained. "So, if we time it right, we can decloak the ship for almost six seconds before a sensor pulse hits us." She explained. "But, we'd need to do it fast and have the transporter powered up and ready to go."

"Understood." Looking at the redhead sitting at Ops he grinned. "Ops coordinate with the science, once we are onsite find our beam in points and have the transporters ready for her signal."

"Acknowledged Captain, Heather said, flashing her own grin out her husband. He still made her heart beat faster.

The helm officer turned, "Coordinates set sir."

Rico sat in his chair. "Activate the deflector." As the deflector activated a vortex opened about 500 meters in front of the Phoenix.

"Take us in."

[Praxis - 2293]

When they emerged they were looking at the intact moon crossing slowly before the Klingon Home world. The spatiotemporal vortex had them from the edge of Breen space, across the breadth of Federation space, to the seat of the Klingon Empire in a fraction of a second. And the clock was ticking.

Looking to the padd they just over 2 hours to scan, beam down, deploy, and get out of there. "We have 2 hours and 13 minutes...Mark!"

Aiden stood up and looked towards the new security chief. "Lieutenant, I want you keep close eye on our teams as they beam down," he said. "watch for anything unexpected. " He then turned to the ops station. "Lieutenant Montoya, on my command decloak, Lieutenant Yaotome, prepare to beam our teams out."

"Aye, Sir," Nico responded. "I'll keep watch."

"Ready," Heather responded, her fingers poised over the console.

"Ready here." Urushi replied simply.

"Now!" Aiden said.

"Six second counting down now!" Heather said as she deactivated the cloak.

"Transporters are locking on..." Urushi said. Three seconds later Urushi looked back. "They're down! No signs of being detected."

[Praxis]

The Marines in transporters rooms 1, 2, & 3 materialized in abandoned shafts at the near the head of each teams deployment pattern. The moon's existing mining shafts and the 24th century transporter technology was able to beam the teams deep inside the moon. Each team would work their way towards the surface, planting their charges as they went.

Spicer motioned began to motion to Cpl. Minori to take point but stopped; they were too clean. Before moving each grabbed handfuls of mine dirt and gave themselves a good dusting by smearing their clothing and faces. "Everyone good? Let's move!"

They all moved along the shaft the sounds of the mining providing excellent cover for their movement. Emily had started moving tactically but quickly stopped. They were guards and miners that were supposed to be there. Behind her the rest of the team glance to one another catching the correction.

They had deployed two of the charges without incident and as they reached neared the third a guard leading other prisoners deeper into the moon Spicer and Minori gestured with a nod to the approaching guards which was returned casually as they continued on their way.

A few moments later they were setting the third charge. While it was being set and concealed, "LT...I'm still not picking up any structural re-enforcement. Shouldn't we have found something already?"

"According to the information we have, if there had been any, yes. We can't waste time searching for it now."

"Charge set."

"Ok the closer we get to the surface the great the chance we will run into tighter security so limited scans and Klingon from here out. Ha' vIH {Let's Move}"

Team 3 -

Private Sarah Anderson looked around the mine shaft, along with the rest of Team 3, noticing just how heavy the air seemed down here. She stood for a moment getting acclimated to the stench so as to not seem out of place should they run into any native Klingons. Glancing down at her uniform Sarah realized she was much to clean to have been in the shafts. Bending down she picked up handfuls of dirt rubbing it on her uniform and face. Seeing a flat wall she walked over to it and rubbed her back up, down, and back and forth to get her backside.

[Phoenix Bridge]

The clock was winding down and the bridge was silent except for the usual beep and people saw to their tasks as they waited on the signal from the Marine for the to be extracted. Rico sat calming in the command chair looking calm and collected. This was his first combat situation but even so the waiting was always the worst. Part of him wanted to pace the bridge just for something to do, but that would only make thing worse for others making them more nervous than the probably already were.

Checking his PADD with his his temporal information, they were running out to time. If they didn't hear from the Marines soon they were going to have to either extract whoever they could so that the could get behind QonoS before the moon blew.

Just as he finished the thought the signal came in and the Lt. Rook called out from the tactial station. "Captain! Extraction signal confirmed."

"Get them out of there and get us out of here!"

Urushi monitored the sensors on the Phoenix, even though they were cloaked it was still possible to detect them with the right methods. Quo'nos had several ships in orbit, everything from bird of preys, to heavier D7 cruisers. It would be troublesome if one of them happened to stumble across the Federation Starship.

"Captain... I'm detecting a slight energy build up on Praxis. It's nothing to be worried about at the moment, but it looks like a faulty reactor coil..." she reported.

Before she could even finish her sentence the Praxis exploded. The information they had been given had been wrong not by much but it was still before early enough to have exploded before the charges the Marines had set. What the hell was going on?

They were monitoring everything the could and listened as history repeated itself as the hail from the USS Excelsior came in. =^= 'This is Excelsior, a Federation starship. We have monitored a large explosion in your sector. Do you require assistance? =^=

Shortly after a signal was detected from what remained of the moon only to blocked and replaced by an announcement from the Klingon Command. == This is Brigadier Kerla, speaking for the High Command. There has been an incident on Praxis. However everything is under control. We have no need for assistance. Obey treaty stipulations and remain outside the Neutral Zone. This transmission ends now. =^=

The fact that the moon exploded before they were told it would bothered him if it had been any earlier they would have been caught in the blast wave and exposed, possibly even crippled. "Helm take us out of the system at...3/4 impulse or lower if needed. Lt. Yaotome, continue to scan the area and I want an report on the sensor data leading up to the explosion. Commander, you have the bridge, as soon as we are clear join me in sick bay with our Marines."
