Mission: M8: The Kzinti War!!!!

[Planet Kzin - Home of the Kzinti]

Word had reached the Patriarch that one of the new cruisers had been discovered during a weapons test and though severely damaged the Federation ship had managed to escape. They had no choice now but to attack, he only hoped history would not repeat itself.

He stepped boldly into the war room were the leaders of his Generals and Admirals awaited their leaders decision. "The time for Justice has come! We shall take back what is ours and show the Federation that they cannot dictate the course of our Future! Signal our Caitain brothers that the time is now! Launch the merchant convoy to Starbase 24 and deploy and cloak the Fleets to their targets! We attack as one! In one decisive blow we will restore the Kzin and secure our RIGHTFUL Place in the Galaxy!!"

The room erupted in Roars of determination as they all rushed to their duties.

Inside the cavernous underground hangers all across Kzin, ships powered up and as they left the protection of the cavern they cloaked and move to each of their predetermined rally points. The surface of the moon orbiting Kzin began to quake as a massive set of doors began to open and their first Slashing Talon Class super-weapon was deployed.

The Patriarch watched as the monitors filled with blip after blip as the fleets formed up and warped to carry out his grand plan. In orbit around the moon he saw the final vessels fell into formation around the super-weapon that was itself in position behind the captured merchant vessels. First the merchant convoy headed out only to be followed a short time later by the armada.

It had begun. The Kzinti forces expanded out from their home world like an unstoppable wave.

[Federation Space & Former Kzin Territory]

Any fleet that encountered a Federation Starship while en route to their target was attacked. The battle lasting mere seconds as the unsuspecting starship was completely overwhelmed and utterly destroyed. There was no hail, no warning, it was simply dispatched with all the consideration one gives an annoying insect. The fleet de-cloaked, destroyed the vessel, then re-cloaked and proceeded on their way.

Planetary targets were likewise attacked. Communications were taken out, planetary defenses and orbiting starships were eliminated without warning or mercy. The skies were a blaze; filled with orbital explosions accompanied by the resulting fireballs when debris as well as entire vessels fell into the planet's atmosphere. Colony leaders were executed and any human or person in a Starfleet uniform was killed with savage hatred; worse than anything encountered during the Dominion War. Martial law was quickly established and strictly enforced as the survivors waited in terror for the death they were sure was to come.

Anything bearing the Emblem of the Federation was ripped apart as the hatred and resentment of the last 200 years was released in fury of claw and fang as every Kziniti clan had a score to settle with the Federation, and every warrior took full advantage of this glorious opportunity to gain retribution.

In the hours that followed reports of victory after victory flowed into the Patriarch's orbital platform and was relayed to the populace of Kzin. Even with the string of victories, it was Starbase 24 that was the Patriarch's main concern right now.

[Starbase 24 - 24 hours earlier]

The Catian engineer had been readying himself for the day when he would be called upon to act. As he relaxed in quarters, his terminal sounded that a message had been received. Turning the monitor to him he read the message and straightened as he swallowed hard. ~So...they've finally decided,~ he thought to himself. He wasn't really surprised. With everything going on in Romulan space the Federation was definitely looking elsewhere.

Over the years he had maneuvered himself into the position he now held as the assistant Chief Engineer, as such he was the one to hand out duty assignments. On this morning a very grateful junior officer smiled as his boss took his assignment of inspecting the stations EPS grid to the stations command level, and was allowed to assist several others on a research project.

It took some time but every main and auxiliary power feed to Operations now had a charge on it. Once that task was completed he placed similar charges on the stations defensive systems as well as the massive space doors. When his task was completed he returned to his quarters and waited. His signal would be obvious enough.

[Kzinti Armada]

The captured merchant convoy dropped from warp as the approached the station and the Lead ship under the control of a Kzinti telepath hailed the station. =^=Star Base, this is merchant ship Nenara. Our convoy was attacked by unknown raiders...probably Romulan. We lost two of our vessels, we have several wounded, and are in need of repair. Can you assist? =^=

They didn't have to wait long before the anticipated reply came even as the massive doors began to part. =^=You are cleared to dock; an escort will guide you upon entry. Medical teams are standing by, and once you've docked our engineers will evaluate your repair needs. Security will also want a report on the attack. =^=

=^= Understood...and Thank you! =^= As the channel closed the Altarian slumped forward, now dead.

The Kzinti troops on the freighters, volunteers all, knew this was most likely a suicide mission. However they all took solace in the knowledge that they would be remembered as heroes of the Kzin, and that their clans would earn great honor and prestige due to their sacrifice. As they entered the cavernous docking area of the starbase the ships moved to take their positions. Some docked; others took position near a powerful starship, ignoring the hails from the dock master concerning their deviation.

Once docked the chaos began. Troops poured from the docking ramps or were beamed from the various ships and they began to rip through the station in a frenzy of blood. They blasted and clawed their way through everyone that crossed their path. As the last troops left the freighters their cargo was detonated. The station shuttered as docking arms were twisted or blow from the central trunk only to be sent crashing into other vessels. Those freighters near other starships caught the unshielded vessels defenseless. Those witnessing the carnage could only think of historical events as images of ancient seafaring battleships burning moored and helpless came to mind.

It was then that the Armada de-cloaked and began the assault on the exterior of the station.

[Starbase 24 - Operations]

Operations was in organized chaos as damage reports and calls for aid came in, some ending abruptly in bloody screams or Kzinti roars. "SIR WE HAVE MULTIPLE DETONATION IN THE DOCKING BAY, INTRUDERS ON MULTIPLE DECKS, SECURITY AND MARINES ARE TRYING TO RESPOND!"

Before she could even respond another report came from the Strategic Operation console. =^= COMMODORE...WE HAVE MULTIPLE SHIPS DE-CLOAKING. 15 CORRECTION 20 SHIPS SIR! =^=

"RED ALERT! ALL HANDS TO BATTLE STATIONS!!! WHO ARE THEY...ROMULAN??!!!"

"NO SIR! I DON'T RECOGNIZE THEM. COMPUTER IS RUNNING A MATCH!"

"BRING THE GAURDIAN PLATFORMS ONLINE". The station was rocked as it began to take fire from the lead battle cruisers. "OPEN FIRE - ALL WEAPONS!!"

[Starbase 24 - Promenade - FNS correspondent]

"THIS IS CRAIG DANIELS WITH FNS! THE CARNAGE IS UNPARALELLED!! AT FIRST THE UNKNOWN ATTACKERS HAD BEEN UNSTOPPABLE BUT THE STATIONS MARINES HAVE MANAGED TO SLOW THEM DOWN LONG ENOUGH FOR A LINE OF DEFENSE TO BE ESTABLISHED ONLY A FEW METERS FROM OUR POSITION. SOME OF THE WOUNDED COMING OFF LINE LOOK AS IF THE HAD BEEN MAULED BY SOME SORT OF ANIMAL. HOW THESE INVADERS MANAGED TO GET ONBOARD IS STILL UNKNOW!"

The reporter was pushed away as fresh unit of Starfleet personnel arrived. Not just Marines, the unit was a mix of uniforms and civilian attire. Anyone that could hold a phaser was being used to try and hold off the onslaught. "GET OUT OF HERE!!!"

Regaining his footing he was about continue when he was thrown to the deck as the station was hit by a barrage of fire from the outside.

[Kzinti Armada]

The stations defenses where effective but they still had the advantage, even so things were not going to plan. "WHY ARE THEIR WEAPONS AND SHIELDS STILL ONLINE?!"

"Sir the stations command and controls centers are still functional!"

"That CAITIAN Coward, INFORM THE NEAREST BOARDING PARTY!"

"SIR!" The command ships tactical officer scanned the station for the turncoat and notified their troops nearest to his location.

[Starbase 24 - Senior Officers Quarters]

The Caitian traitor sat staring at the detonator, his limbs trembling as he couldn't bring himself to actually do it. He knew that with or without his help the station would fall but the rest of the operation could be jeopardized if he failed. Suddenly the door to his quarters was blown open and a huge Kzinti warrior leapt through the smoke taking him by the throat.

"YOU ARE NOT WORTH OF THE HONOR GIVEN TO YOU!!" His other arm reaching back, his claws fully extended, he dispatched the engineer in a flash of blood. Turning quickly he found the detonator and pressed the button. The station rocked from the series of internal explosions and he tossed the detonator aside, eager to rejoin the fight.....There were humans to kill.
