Mission:
M6: Blood of the Innocent
Location: Lounge
Timeline: Current
Melanie's mood had been dark for days and she wasn't sure how to fix it. She had tried everything, even had gone riding but there had been so much death and destruction in her life lately she couldn't shake the feeling. The only bright side in her life at the moment was the fact that her's and Talar's embryo was safe on DS5.
Sitting in the lounge she cringed at the thought of actually going to the counselor's office. Melanie was convinced that with everything that had happened over the past few weeks that he would take her off duty, which probably wouldn't be a bad thing. The last thing she wanted to do was screw up in sickbay. She sighed before she had the last sip of her drink.
Alex, seeing that something was wrong with the young woman, walked over. "Um. Lieutenant. May I sit here?"
Melanie looked up and almost groaned. "I was just about to come see you. Please have seat."
"Thank you." Alex replied a he sat down and took a sip of his drink.
"I suppose I am glad that you saw me here rather than me making my way to your office. I think I may have talked myself of actually ringing the chime...instead turning around and leaving. I never used to have difficulty hiding my emotions but I seem to be completely different from what I was before the console exploded and I lost the last few months..."
"What do you mean you lost the last few months?" Alex asked. Being new, he didn't know what in the world she was talking about. To him, she had just went off the deep end.
"I can only tell you what the reports have said...I was working in sickbay when the console I was working at exploded. I have no memory of the past few months. The last thing I remember is leaving my home on Earth to go to DS5."
"It must have been a terrible experience. If you would like I could try to help you remember those memories."
"How? I was told they weren't retrievable...do you really think you can help me?" She asked hopeful.
"Yes. I am a Betazoid and there is an ancient technique that would get your memory back. I mean you would sleep for the next two days after the technique." Alex replied with a smile.
~As am I but I have never heard of this technique before.~ She replied. ~Sleep...I am not even sure what that is anymore.~
~You have never heard of the technique? Maybe it was because of your parents. I don't know, but my mother told me about it when I was going to starfleet academy.~Alex stated telepathically.
~Mother died birthing me and my father was killed in the Dominion War. I have lost touch with my Betazed roots.~ She replied sadly.
~I'm sorry about that.~Alex replied leaving it at that. He didn't know what else to say.
~It was a long time ago, when can we start the technique?~ She asked anxiously.
~Well you'll need a full night's rest before we start it.~Alex stated. ~When you are done with that, you are to report to my office. Understood?~
Melanie nodded. ~If you will excuse me then?~ She stood up.
