Mission: M3: Shore Leave
Location: Rudious 4
Timeline: Current

[Previously]

Da`nal put the PADD down. While the news hadn't completely ruined his mood it certainly put a damper on it. Activating his monitor he spoke to the computer. "Computer, list all unassigned Starfleet personnel, in this sector, capable of holding a Chief Medical Officers billet."

As the list grew he summoned his XO. =^= Commander Killian, report to my Ready Room. =^=

Don was on his way to see how the bar was getting on, but stopped in his tracks. =^= On my way Captain=^= He had received the memo about the Orion Doctor who was transferred. He would never understand Command's logic. They sometimes thought through there asses. This could very well be why his CO wanted to see him.

=^= It seems we need to select a new CMO. The computer is compiling candidates now. =^=

When he had reached the ready room, he stepped inside when he was let in. "You want me to go look for one on the SB, I am not sure I could be as effective as finding the bar maid, but I could try," he said with small ironic smile.

"Well I had the computer pull up all qualified personnel in the sector that were currently unassigned." Turning the monitor to allow Don to view the file. "This man is currently on a Leave of Absence, but he ensured that Command knew where he was going to be in case he was needed. What do you think?"

"He has an impressive record. Montoya..." he mused. "And he has field experience.. personally, that is always a plus for me," Don offered as he read the information more carefully. There were records of him having had to resort to old technology when needed. "Not afraid to get hands on..." he continued. His research seemed interesting too. and then a grin formed. 'He is certainly better behaved than your current XO, impeccable record," he said with a smirk.

Da`nal had the same feeling. However, a person's official record was also only half the story. He was particularly curious as to his time aboard the USS Tempest, as he had served with Capt L'Berr for sometime. "Well then we need to convince him to join us. No doubt his current leave of absence has something to do with the classified service. I want you to take a shuttle and get him."

Handing his XO a PADD. "He's about a half a day's journey at warp 4. Tell him his presence is requested on the Federation's newest class of Starship. I want his to come voluntarily, but we need a CMO."

Don smiled, he didn't mind to get away a bit into space. "Will do Captain and I will bring us a CMO," he said. "I will leave shortly," he said wondering if he could take Rhys with on the journey.

Da`nal saw his XO's wheel turning and grinned a bit. He'd probably have had the same idea.

[Shuttle Bay - a short time later]

Don and Rhys got into the small shuttle and got settled, before Don asked for the departure protocols. Once he had them, he cleared the Freedom, turned to Starboard and disappeared in a flash of light as the shuttle went to warp.

Rhys settled back and watched the stars blaze by, content to be silent for the time being.

[Rudious 4]

Rico stepped out of the shower and wipped the mirror clear of the fog that had formed on the glass. He eyed himself carefully, even after a year off his eyes were still drawn the the scar on his chest, and he ran a finger down its length. Despite the past year off he had kept himself in shape and as he walked into his bedroom he threw the towel on the bed and slipped into a pair of loose pants.

Stepping out onto his balcony he stretched as he looked up at the fading stars as the first of this planets 2 suns drew nearer to the horizon. Sooner or later he was going to have to return to duty he knew that but at least on this side of the Federation he didn't have to worry about Cardassians.

After breakfast he headed out to the villages stables and saddles the planets version of a horse. The 8-legged creatures were at times spirited but once they got used to you and one got the hang of controlling them, they were easy enough. He headed off into the foot hills and would return up the coast as was usual for his morning ride.

[Mean while]

It was a 11 hours 45 minutes later when the Valiant beeped to indicate that they had reached the system and Don dropped the warp field, setting a course for the small planet.

"We are here!" he said towards the back as the planet loomed in front of him. He had already been cleared to land close to a little village called Supraken.

He loaded the trajectory for entry into the atmosphere. After a bit of turbulence, they cleared it and Don took them to the coordinates. They landed close to an almost rural looking village and stretched their legs a bit.

"You don't mind looking around here, while I go find the Doc?" he asked Rhys.

"Nope, I'm good. Got some things of my own to check into," Rhys responded rather vaguely.

After finding directions to where Montaya resided, Don walked the narrow path towards the house. It looked quiet, but he tried anyway, the bell and knocking. He swore lightly in frustration, and shouted is name.

Just as Don started to turn and walked, someone came from behind the house. "Are you looking for mister Montoya?" he asked friendly.

"Yes, can you tell me where he is?" he asked.

"He's not there sir, he usually takes a ride into the foothills."

Don forced a smile. "Thank you, please if he comes back, tell him that Commander Don Killian, Starfleet, is looking for him," he added. The man nodded and Don went to look for the *foothills*. ~What foothills, riding on what?~ he thought to himself as he started back towards the village.

[A while later]

Rico was riding along the coast, heading back to the village. Most of the adults were at work, the children at school so the beach was deserted at this early hour. He was riding at a swift gallop and in the distance he saw a petite form off in the distance.

Rhys was strolling down the beach, enjoying her time in the open air before being cooped up on the ship indefinitely. It was always about this time that she realized that in spite of flying through the stars at warp speed, a ship was still just a sardine can in the sky. Maybe this hadn't been such a good idea after all...

Rico rode up to her, careful not to splash her as he approached. "Good Morning...I don't think I've seen you here before. Miss...?"

Her knees went weak but she braced herself. She'd dealt with Deltans before. "My name is Rhys," she answered nonchalantly, "And you are?"

He dismounted and began to walk over to her, extending his hand. "Name's Ricardo Montoya, but you can call me Rico. I haven't seen you around here before." He asked inquisitively.

"That would be because I haven't been around here before," Rhys answered with a smug little smile.

Rico smiled widely, almost chuckling. "Fair enough. So what brings you to this little corner of the galaxy? On vacation?"

"Not exactly. Just came down for a bit to get a few things before the Freedom takes off," Rhys shrugged, eying him, wondering how long she'd manage to put him off. The longer she was around the part-Deltan, the more difficult it got to ward off the effects.

"I wasn't aware there was a ship in orbit. Hmm...the Freedom? I'm not familiar with that ship. So how long will you be in the area?"

"Not long," Rhys replied with a shrug, getting antsy to get away from there.

"That's too bad. This village may be quite but there is a major city a few kilometer past that rise there," he said pointing inland. "There's quite a bit to do there. Including a couple of VERY nice clubs. When does your ship leave orbit?"

"Ummm..." Rhys was nearly dizzy with the pheromones by now and was having difficulty thinking straight.

At long last Don made it to the beach and saw Rhys conversing with someone. "Hey!!" he shouted to attract their attention.

It took a moment, but the word did get through to Rhys and she gradually turned and saw Don, thinking to herself, ~Oh good...an outlet for all these damn pheromones~ but she didn't say a thing. Instead, she gulped hard and gave him a weak wave.

He closed the gap between them and said from a distance. "Are you Doctor Montoya?" he asked as he reached Rhys, immediately feeling attracted to the man. "Oh shit... your pheromones are having a strange reaction on me... I am supposed to want to beat you..." he said and shook his head as if to shake off the reaction.

For some reason, Don's words caused Rhys to burst into laughter, snapping her out of the daze she'd been in but causing her to say, "Maybe we should go for a threesome?" in a teasing tone.

"Yeah you would just like that, wouldn't you!" he grumbled. He was not gay at all and had never been attracted to a man.

"Don't know, never had a threesome," Rhys responded with a shrug.

Rico just shock his head. "Didn't mean to intrude." Looking directly at the officer, "If you were looking for Dr. Montoya you found him. What can I do for ya?"

"Good to meet you, and I am Lieutenant Commander Don Killian, executive officer of the USS Freedom. Yep you are right, we need to talk," Don agreed.

He knew that this time would have come eventually, perhaps it was time to get back on the horse. Patting the neck of his mount he swung back up into the saddle. "Well Commander you didn't come all this way for nothing. Let me drop her back at the stables and I'll meet you back at my place."
