Personal History | Aiden was born into a military family. From young he wanted to be a soldier. He completed his high school at the Stafford Military Academy and went straight to the Marines after qualifying as a Second Lieutenant. His first assignment was to the USS Sahara as part of a MACO unit. He felt privileged to be involved in the extraction of two scientists that were kidnapped on Alcos IV, suppression of a riot on a mining colony, and a few other encounters. Their sniper was killed during a mission and Aiden, having been shooting competitively throughout his childhood, was field trained. He excelled. After two years he was promoted to first lieutenant and put in charge of a small platoon of three squads on the USS Alabama, a patrol ship. Aiden was young and at this point not much had gone wrong for him. After responding to a distress signal from a trade ship, Aiden sent one squad with the Alabama away team to the trade ship to investigate. While still on the trade ship, four pirate ship appeared from a nearby moon and started attacking the battered trade ship as well as the Alabama. An explosion on the trade ship killed three of the marines as well as the two away team members. When the attackers eventually broke off their attack, leaving the Alabama damaged, Aiden convinced the Captain of the Alabama to allow them to pursue the attackers to the moon. He granted permission and Aiden took the remaining two units with him. It was the wrong decision. With the Alabama unable to assist at the time, Aiden and his men were alone. After a doing a recon, Aiden took a position 1000 meters from what seemed to be a small base on the moon, while his men moved in. It was a trap and they were hopelessly overwhelmed. Aiden took as many of the pirates down as he could from his position, urging the Alabama for assistance as soon as possible, but he witnessed his men fall one by one. He attempted to move down and get closer to his men, but he was transported out to safety. He was the only person who survived. He took full responsibility. Though there was no reason for a court martial, Aiden blamed himself and his life started to show a downward spiral. For three years he merely existed. He placed himself at risk several times, regularly drank too much with disciplinary action as a result, but his commanding officer refused to give up on him. However, that only lasted so long. An opportunity aboard a Klingon vessel opened up and impulsively he took a position as a Marine Captain on the IKC VaQbach, a Negh'Var class was ship, with a large Marine complement, both KDF and Starfleet. The Vaq'bach and its mission provided him the opportunity for combat, recon and several other specialist operations. He was promoted to major whilst serving there. Command suited him well and he wanted more. Whilst on a recon away mission to a nearby planet, the VaQbach and crew disappeared. After a long and unsuccesful search, Aiden decided to change careers. Aiden decided to switch to Starfleet and convinced his parents hat the change would be better for him. With his previous training and experience he only needed to complete 2 years at the academy. Because he was slightly older than most of his class mates, be did not make many friends there. He lived his life on the fringes and tested every rule. Some he broke, but he managed to graduate, by the skin of his teeth. He was assigned a position as a security officer, because of his previous experience and ranking, he started as Lt JG. It was a struggle to adapt to a Starfleet vessel, but he grit his teeth and was promoted to Lieutenant. However, during an away mission, Aiden disobeyed orders in order to save a native of the planet, and exposed himself to a prewarp species. He believed that he did the right thing and disagreed with the resultant court martial. That resulted in a demotion to Lt JG, and him reverting to old habits. His old CO intervened and Aiden managed to narrowly avoid futher disciplinary action on the USS Chippendale. In a near conflict situation in a trade dispute, his experience as a Marine and serving on the VaQbach, afforded him the opportunity to provide valuable insight and a solution to what could have been a disaster at the time. That attracted the attention of the CO of the USS Falkirk who offered him a Security Chief position. He emerged more mature and responsible taking leadership of any kind very seriously. He is still working through the profound loss and disappointment. He hopes for a new mission and a new challenge. |
