Hmm. I spoke with the captain today, hinting as to whether or not he would allow me to vivisect sentient life. He hinted that his answer was no.
I find myself envying the many species who had free roam to do as they liked to their prisoners. I find it both necessary, as a form of torture, and as a way of finding out how they tick. Do you realize what kind of knowledge is waiting, untapped inside every body? The applications for both medicine and weapons would be phenomenal!
However, there is nothing I can do about that now. I am considering asking one of the engineers to build me a false panel in my office, where the real work can get done. I already have my eyes on a suitable target - Tyce Backo. He is just like me, smart and ambitious, except whereas I wish to further my own scientific knowledge, he just wishes to build. I can exploit his desire for recognition, to turn him into a temporary accomplice in my plan.
I'll take a look at the floor plans again tomorrow...
