Mission:
M1: Prepare for Battle
Location: Bridge
Timeline: Current
Lieutenant DeHavilland smiled widely to himself as he stared down at the CONN console. All systems were perfectly aligned. They had been aligned per Starfleet regulations long before now, but DeHavilland had always thought that the official alignment parameters were a bit weak; weak enough to be the difference between being able to navigate the ship through an asteroid belt successfully and being turned into a fiery ball that looked quite a bit like a ship. Regardless of who their CO was, he was certain that they would prefer the former as opposed to the latter.
On his previous ship, he had petitioned repeatedly to the Senior Flight Control Officer to allow him to tweak the parameters, but he had been repeatedly denied. The SFCO had been as stubborn as he was. In the end, he recalibrated for his shift and shifted back when he was done. It wasn't exactly efficient, but it had gotten him out of more than one pinch. Now that he was in charge of Flight Control for the Freedom, he had adjusted the parameters permanently.
Satisfied that he was finished, and that the CONN was ready for battle, he spun around in his chair and surveyed the Bridge. They were still a bit short on staff; No Captain, no Ops and no Science officer to be found. The chaos of the Bridge had died down a bit, but still, it wasn't the picture of efficiency. With a sigh, he left the CONN alcove and made his way towards the Operations panel where one of the ship's Petty Officer's was manning the station. DeHavilland smiled politely at the PO and glanced at the station over her shoulder.
"How's it look?" DeHavilland asked.
The PO nodded and shrugged her shoulders slightly. "I'm not entirely sure the technician's knew what they were doing." she said, "I've managed to clean up the Ops systems though. We're up and running 100% from this station."
DeHavilland smiled, "Good job. How about the backup systems? I can't imagine we're going to get any kind of efficient use of power with all the technician's still running wild all over the ship, but a basic order would be nice." he said.
The PO nodded fervently, "I'm on it, sir." she said.
"Excellent." he replied, "I'm sure the XO and Tactical Officer have their hands full at the moment, so keep me posted. No need for you to go it alone."
"Yes, sir." she replied. "Thank you." she added as he walked away towards the Science station.
He sat down at the terminal, which instantly came to life. After running a few quick diagnostics he put the station on standby and returned to the CONN chair. Finally, he thought, a station up and running without Divine interference.
