Physical Description Ayana is curvaceous and "cuddly." She loves to wear a jumpsuit when possible as there are less pieces to get caught when she's repairing something and more pockets. She loves pockets and often has them filled with all sorts of doodads she might need in her work.

Her hair is either in a ponytail or loose, depending on what she's doing. She likes it loose, but will pull it back when she's repairing something or working in one of the Jefferies Tubes.

She is frequently smiling, which looks odd when you notice her pointed ears and upturned eyebrows. Sometimes, when she's in the middle of a project, she will act very Vulcan. It all depends on her mood and what she's doing.

Family

Father Yamil Varon
Mother T'lia

Personality & Traits

General Overview Ayana is a true mixture of both her races. She can be cheerful and sing or hum as she works or she can have the focus and drive of a Vulcan. Those who know her well are used to her "two sides," but it can be a little odd to those who don't know her well.

She loves her work and she's fascinated with communications systems and computers. She loves to take apart and put together antique communications devices because you never know when you might need to use one.

In general, she loves to learn how things work and can get distracted by "ooh, shinys." But generally not when she has a task to do. She will pocket something or make a note to check it out later.

She collects odds and end to figure out how they work and to play with them.
Ambitions To build a better comm system and to understand more about how things work. As an only child she's spent a lot of time alone. One day, she would like to marry, but she needs someone who will support her need to learn and be a help meet.

Languages so she can use her ancient communication devices without the Universal Translator.

Personal History Ayana was born on Vulcan and lived there for most of her childhood. Her father was a painter and musician and her mother was an historian. Her parents were frequently reading or talking about their work and Peri loved to listen to them. She developed a thirst for knowledge and read everything she could get her hands on.

As an only child she was often left to her own devices, so she spent a lot of time with the computer. She learned how to program, repair and build computers. Then, curious as to how ancient computers worked, she learned about those. That led to a curiosity about machines and communication devices.

Her mother was thrilled with her desire to learn and taught her to be a proper Vulcan and value logic and knowledge. Her father didn't mind at all as he had great respect for the Vulcan people, but he still talked to her about Betazed and his people when she worked beside him. As Ayana studied other cultures and civilizations she grew to respect diversity and ingenuity. And she was far too cheerful to be content suppressing her emotions.

This began to cause Ayana trouble in school as the other Vulcan children would pick on her. She learned to keep to herself and spent more time with computers and communications systems.

When Ayana was 12 her parents relocated to a small colony where she spent time walking in the woods. Here she learned to draw and carve, but she never lost her love for computers and communications. She would spend time outside of school studying and learning all she could. She grew to love how language worked, both with computers and spoken language. She learned the native languages of the other colonists and the ancient languages of her ancestry.

When she graduated from school, she chose to move to Earth and continue her education in the heart of the Federation. She got a degree in history, communications, communications systems, and linguistics. Her roommates talked so much of Starflleet and exploring the galaxy that she applied with them for Starfleet Academy.

She was the only one in the group accepted and threw herself into her studies, choosing to focus on Operations as it involved communications, linguistics, and fixing things. It also gave her a great opportunity to learn more.

She graduated with honors and looked with anticipation to her new career. She loves her job and continues to find ways to expand her knowledge base. Since she tends to keep to herself, she has used some of her free time to continue her education, gaining advanced degrees in computers, communications, and the history of language. This, she feels, will help her to be able to incorporate both her education and her thirst for learning into her job in operations, and make her a better officer overall.

However, her fascination with how things work has caused several of her co-workers to complain about her "tinkering". And the variety of items she keeps on and around her workstation.
