| General Overview | Samuel Killpatrick lost his family around the age of eleven in what is officially described as an industrial accident. He spent the next five years as a ward of the state learning, among the usual subjects of a child, how to interact in a criminal world. At the age of fourteen Sam left the orphanage he had spent the last few years living in and official records show that he spent the following two years fending for himself. It is known that he maintained contact with his martial arts teacher during this period and was arrested twice for assault, though the charges were later dropped. At the age of sixteen, he met the Admiral Andrew T. Bogart who encouraged Sam to join Starfleet where he fostered Sam's career in intelligence. In Sam's final year at the academy his martial arts teacher died severing the last tie he had to his old life. Sam completed five years at the academy majoring in security and intelligence before starting an internship in the intelligence department as an analyst. After completing the internship Sam was promoted to ensign and moved into counter intelligence where he performed excellently, identifying and neutralizing a vast intelligence network operating within starfleet. Sam was promoted to lieutenant junior grade and awarded the Prentares Ribbon of Commendation for his actions in counter intelligence. Sam was then moved to work directly within intelligence where the details of his activities are redacted. However, he earned the Starfleet Decoration for Gallantry during this period. Sam spent six months in the officers pool, awaiting reassignment before receiving orders to join the Nautilus. Now, Sam is physically at the peak of fitness, psychologically, he is less so. Since serving on the Nautilus Sam returned to the life of a roving intelligence officer, dropping in to pressure points all over known space and disrupting diverting and eliminating threats. But three months ago, his long term girlfriend was murdered, the perpetrator, Sam's wayward brother. Sam took the death of his girl friend poorly and called in a great deal of favors to permit him to return to the hunt for his brother. Sam has had mixed success in his crusade, on the one hand his brother has remained one step ahead of him. However, Sam has stolen his brothers ship, the Class V Hedron-Nairedo named the Shadow. Piloting the Shadow, Sam followed his brother through the Wormhole at Deep Space Nine alone, and without backup moving further and further away from the federation and those he knows and loves. |

| Strengths & Weaknesses | ---Strengths--- Sam is an excellent intelligence analyst with an eye for detail and the ability to quickly identify patterns within seemingly unrelated occurrences Sam has a well trained and experienced situational awareness that allows him to calmly keep track of complicated situations as they occur and accurately predict outcomes of those situations. Sam's abilities as an analyst combined with his situational awareness and a strong understanding of tactics and strategy to make him an excellent operator on the ground Sam has an advanced knowledge and experience in had to hand combat, focusing on fast resolution of combat in a variety of circumstances. Sam's history in Intelligence means that he has received training and practical experience in a wide variety of advanced skill sets. Sam's time amidst the criminal elements present on Earth has taught him to become a social chameleon, mixing in amongst almost any social situation. This has assisted him in his intelligence career, allowing Sam to develop a significant espionage network on a number of planets. Sam speaks a number of languages and is quick to pick languages up meaning that he can quickly integrate himself with other cultures. ---Weaknesses--- Sam's priorities have previously been called into question, when his brother is involved with a situation. Due to early tragedy Sam finds it very dificult to form trust based relationships, seeing everyone as capable of betrayal. This means that Sam finds it almost impossible to develop friendships, being unable to trust enough to open up. |

Chief among his ambitions is to see the job done, in short, he thoroughly enjoys what he does, but he knows there is much more to life than jumping from orbit and blowing things up. | Personal History | After the murder of his family in what was officially reported as an "industrial accident" 'Sam was raised in the federation's orphanage and foster system. Growing up the only stability in Sam's life was the man who trained him to fight. With little guidance and a big chip on his shoulder, Sam fell in with a criminal element on Earth. Well on his way to becoming a criminal himself, Sam stumbled across his brother in a marketplace. Overcome with fury, Sam stole a vehicle to chase his brother down, but lost him at a space port. Unbeknownst to Sam the vehicle belonged to a Starfleet Admiral. On meeting Sam, the Admiral saw potential and strongly encouraged Sam to join Starfleet. Sam did well in the academy studying security at first, and then being invited into the Starfleet intelligence and espionage program, extending his studies to a five year double specialization. After graduation Sam spent a year in Intelligence learning the ropes and acting as an analyst and operator. After his tenure with Intelligence he was moved into a Counter Intelligence role working to identify and subvert a Romulan network within Starfleet itself. Excelling in his position Sam was picked for further intelligence work and was moved to deniable operations where he worked building and managing networks of spies. Once again Sam ran into his brother, on a routine BG job, Sam recognized his brother and moved to intercept him. This breach of protocol landed him in hot water and he was dropped from fleet intelligence. Sam spent the next six months in the officer's pool, before his admiral benefactor stepped in to get him a position on the Nautilus. Sam excelled at his duties as a security officer and after several years was moved back into intelligence. Whilst serving on the Nautilus Sam began to develop real long lasting relationships, for the first time since the death of his family, however, he is still distant and finds it difficult to connect with people. Another major event of his life occurred during his appointment to the Nautilus. Sam's benefactor Admiral Andrew T. Bogart and his wife adopted Sam, an act that went a great deal towards healing Sam. After the Nautilus Sam was welcomed back into the intelligence fraternity where he was employed as a disaster management and mitigation specialist, utilizing all of his skills to resolve developing hotspots as they arise. Through this period Sam has often wielded a great deal of power, as needed, developing a range of friends and enemies within starfleet as he wielded his authority like a scalpel or a sledge hammer as the situation required.
