Personality & Traits

General Overview He is a rather quiet man, finding solace in simply observing instead of conversing. He is not rude, though, and will always talk if spoken to, and if he finds someone particular interesting he might actually get into it. His observant nature has served him well over the course of his life, so far, which made him an excellent civilian police officer in his native Germany.
Strengths & Weaknesses His skill at observation is perhaps his greatest strength as he usually doesn't miss even the smallest detail about a situation or someone. Solitude is perhaps his greatest weakness as he won't usually seek out associations with people as he prefers to wait for them to approach him first.
Ambitions To serve Starfleet the best to his ability and to make his parents proud.
Hobbies & Interests Wilhelm enjoys a good beer every now and then and it's possibly that he might even loosen up after a few. Classical music has a special place in his heart, having grown up with it since both of his parents were fans.

Personal History Wilhelm was born in Berlin, Germany to two parents that both worked for the civilian police force, which worked alongside Federation officials to keep the peace throughout the land. At a young age, he found himself drawn to his parents line of work, but there was something else there, causing the young boy to gaze upon the stars each night, wishing to be out among them.

At the age of eighteen, he signed up with his parents' urging to the police academy, finding himself at first a bit disappointed that he wasn't out with the stars. This soon faded as he involved himself in the rigorous training needed to graduate in the top ten percent of his class. When he emerged, he came out determined to be the best that he could be. His parents were quite proud of their son, who in just a year had grown up tremendously. Many of his friends had gone off to join Starfleet, but Wilhelm stayed at home to follow in his parents' footsteps.

At first, the work of a police officer was satisfying for Wilhelm, but over time his desire to be in space returned and in overwhelming force. When he was 24, he finally decided to do something about it and resigned from the force, much to the chagrin of his parents, who had recently retired, having spent their entire careers serving. After many long talks with their son, they finally accepted that this was what he really wanted to do and it would make him happy.

He didn't enter Starfleet Academy immediately due to the time for admissions for that year had passed, so he spent the time studying and working on his cardiovascular health, something which was a bit of a weak point for him throughout his career as an officer. After almost a year of training, he found himself able to run farther, faster, and longer than he had ever been able to at any point in his life. His application was accepted at the Academy and he moved to San Francisco to attend.

The Academy hit him hard at first as he wasn't totally used to schooling of any sort as it had been a number of years since he finished high school. It took him the majority of his first semester to get up to speed and he spent his first two years bringing his grades up to the level that he was used to. He focused in Security and Tactical solutions, since that was where he had the most experience. As his studies moved towards his major, his grades skyrocketed and his professors found him simply a natural.

At graduation, he had moved up to the top twenty-five percent of his class, which was far from the almost failure of his first year. He immediately applied for off-world assignment, hoping to fulfill his lifelong dream of being out among the stars.
