Achievements

Introduction

The Achievement system was first thought up by Captain Mark Levett, of the Leto Colony. It is based on videogames such as Team Fortress 2 and other Steam-based games and was first used on the USS Eclipse, after which more ships implemented this system. Now it is available for any sim, as long as the appropriate credit is given.

What are Achievements?

In addition to being a source of inspiration for post ideas; think of these achievements as little tasks you complete just for the fun of it. Some of them can be done at any time, others are context-related or time constrained.

The Rules

1. You may try to earn an achievement by working the required content into a post. However, this post must be in the context of the mission or side plot(s) currently active at the tine. If, for instance, the achievement is for a character to kick something. Making a post of him/her going down to Engineering, kicking something and returning, will not suffice. Again, whether or not the player has fulfilled the achievement's requirement is up to the CO.

2. When attempting an achievement in one of their posts, players must mark it by either opening or closing the post with the targeted achievement or inform the CO in advance of your intentions.

EXAMPLE: "Achievement Attempt: [achievement name here]"

This way the CO doesn't have to scan through all the posts and achievements to see if a player has completed one.

3. If you are going to need another character(s) or their NPC(s) in your post you will need to discuss this with the player in question and be sure they are willing to participate in the joint post. All participants will get Achievement credit.

4. If there is any question on whether the post will be allowed, please check with the CO.

List of Achievements

*** Note: If you have an idea for a new Achievement, submit it and its requirements to your CO for consideration.

Special Achievements

Special Achievements are Achievements that require a bit more effort than the regular ones. And contrary to the regular ones, players will make the post solely to complete this particular achievement. Some Specials can be posted amongst the regular posts, while other will need to be posted separately ("What If?", for example). These can be posted in a separate topic, or under a special tag (on SMS or Play-By-Email)

Special Achievement #1: I Love This Song?: Take a song you really love and make a post around it. You can use the general story in the song or video, the vibe, your interpretation of the song, or even just one word or sentence. At the end of the post, put a little explanation as to why you picked this song. ("I chose this song, because...")"

Special Achievement #2: What If?: "This Special Achievement revolves around a What If?-situation. This is your chance to bend and twist reality into an awesome post. What if the Romulans never existed? What if you were blind? What if that hot Ensign in Engineering actually was your partner? You are only limited by your imagination - Anything is possible!
